Wiki Iwa - Week 9

Kia Ora Kākano Whānau,

We are in the final week of school for 2021. We have a very exciting week ahead in and out of the classroom. The children get to compete in a duathlon, meet their teacher and classmates for 2022, create christmas art, bring their mahi from the year home, celebrate their learning/achievements and the year we have had.

Duathlon - Monday 13th December 2021

On Monday 13th we will be having our school duathlon. Children will need to have their togs, towel, goggles, running shoes/gear and a water bottle. Unfortunately under the red light restrictions our tamariki whānau and friends will not be allowed to come onto school grounds but all the teachers and other students will be cheering them on and lots of photos will be taken!

Reports, Class Placement and Meet the Teacher - Monday 13th December 2021

On Friday your child would have been sent home with an envelope that contained their end of year report and their class placement for 2022. Please make sure that you have a look at these if you haven't already. Your child will be going to meet their class and their classroom teacher for next year on Monday afternoon.

Prize Giving - Tuesday 14th December

On Tuesday we will be having our end of the year prize giving. Prizes will be announced for the students in each class that will receive awards. Due to government restrictions, parents will not be able to attend our prizegiving. You will be able to view our prizegiving online either through a livestream or recorded video, details will be announced when confirmed with Mr Macmillan.

Last Day of School - Thursday 16th December 2021

Thursday will not only be our last day of school… It is also a half day so we will be finishing at 12:00pm. Please make sure that you have organised care/pick up for your child at this time.

School Work

As we are in the final days of our end of year countdown we are packing up our classrooms and preparing for 2022. Over the next couple of days your child will be bringing all their art and mahi that they are proud of home.

School Magazine

We are publishing a school magazine again this year, and this will be available during the last week of this term. It will be a great memento of 2021. Orders are taken now with the cost for the magazine being $10.00.

Save Our Babies Annual Christmas School Bag Kaupapa

Kahira Olley, the founder of Save Our Babies Charitable Trust, runs an annual Christmas school bag kaupapa. This means that children get a school bag full of gifts.

If any of the St Mary’s community would like to support this she is hoping for some school bags for 12-16 year olds.

You are welcome to donate a bag full or just a bag or just something to go in the bag.

Some ideas are

  • a dress (to wear on Christmas Day) - a pair of shorts and a t.shirt - a pack of underwear - toiletries and nice smellies - a game - chocolates/lollies/goodies - Lastly, don’t forget the school bag.

If you would like to see some of the other wonderful work that Kahira does please look at her facebook page.

Any questions please phone Rachel Schuster on -027 446 1351

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE ITEM/ITEMS PLEASE LEAVE THEM IN THE SCHOOL RECEPTION.
