Kia Ora Kākano Whanau,

Well done everyone on making it safe and sound to Week 10.  It has been a busy and strange term with Lockdown and Online Learning.  We thank you once again for your cooperation and support during this time and into our current Level 2 restrictions.

Catholic Schools’ Day.

Catholic Schools Day is Wednesday. Thanks to Mrs Hall and her team for organising the day. Catholic Schools Day is about celebrating our unique Catholic Character, in faith, excellence and service. It is another opportunity to celebrate the taonga of Catholic Education for which we are kaitiaki. The theme for Catholic Schools Day, 2021 is Tūrangawaewae: Catholic Schools – A Place to Stand.

Children are welcome to wear their own clothing on Wednesday instead of uniforms.

Baptism Course for children in the Kakano Team.

A letter was sent home last Thursday to parents of children in Kakano inviting them to consider having their child baptised.  These responses need to be returned to your classroom teacher by Tuesday.

Parent Input into 2022 Class Placement

What have we been up to...

This week in Keeping Ourselves Safe we have been talking about people we can trust.  We can ask people we trust for help.  These people make us feel safe and happy.  Check out the people we named as those we can trust at school, at home and in our community.

A note from Mrs Cato...
This week your child will have brought home a form inviting you to provide some input into your child's class placement for 2022. These forms are optional to complete and are due back by Friday 1 October. Due to Covid Level 2, we suggest the forms be returned via the Class Teacher.

Our younger students tend to move with many of their current classmates when placed into classes for the next school year. Children are generally classed as Year 0 if they commenced school after 1 April this year, and Year 1 if they commenced school between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021. Students who are currently in Year 0 will be in Year 1 next year.

If you have any questions regarding this form please contact annec@stmarysrotorua.school.nz

Wiki Iwa - Week 9

 Kia Ora Kākano Whanau!!

We hope that you have been out enjoying the sunshine this weekend.

On Rāmere (Friday) our school had WIG DAY. We would like to thank all the children and families who helped us to raise money for Cancer. We were able to raise $580.00. This is an awesome result and we thank you so much for your support.

The children also loved creating Edible Slime for Golden Time, we couldn't believe how stretchy our slime was and of course how good it tasted.

We are still in level 2 and we are so proud of all the children for being able to manage themselves and their jobs in the morning. It has been so awesome to see the children grow in confidence and independence over the last week. We would like to thank all of you for following the COVID-19 safety procedures with drop off and pick up.

Week 6 - Mid Week Update

Welcome to the middle of another week!  It is hard to believe that we have now been in lockdown for 2 whole weeks!

Again, thank you for all you are doing at home supporting your child’s learning.  The teachers are loving the updates you are providing.

The Google chats are proving very successful and it is great for the children to see their friends and maintain relationships.

We will have our second Google chat tomorrow at 11am. The children will need to bring a pen and a piece of paper as we will be playing a game of Bingo (all will be shared tomorrow). It is also an opportunity for children to dress up, all children can wear their favourite dress-up clothes.

Please vote for what we should call our 2 No-Name Chicks.

I hope all is well with you and your families,

Sara
